The High-Profile Project is the Culmination of a Three-Year Engagement with Binswanger

October 18, 2019 – Philadelphia, PA – Binswanger Management Services, an innovator in commercial real estate since 1931, today announced that UGI Energy Services, its client for the redevelopment of the 146,000 sq. ft. Vanity Fair Outlet site (formerly the Berkshire Knitting Mills) in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania has received the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance‘s Building Berks Award in the Office Category. Winners were announced at the Building Berks Awards & Expo, at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Reading, Pennsylvania on October 16, 2019.

The redevelopment project was the anchor facility for the Knitting Mills complex and involved the conversion of a five-story 1920’s industrial building into Class A office space. Partners in the project included Binswanger, Wulff Architects, Equus Capital Partners, and IMC Construction. Binswanger’s team handled the project management of the reconstruction and tenant improvements.

“This marks the conclusion to an immensely meaningful project for the revitalization efforts of the Wyomissing/West Reading and the beginning of a new era for UGI Energy Services,” stated Steven Wurtz, Senior Project Manager of Binswanger. UGI Energy Services moved into their new headquarters on time and on budget and they now have a beautiful and safe campus that pays homage to the deep history and respect the community has for the site.”

The campus originally featured thirteen properties of various sizes and the vision for the improvements provided by Equus Capital Partners required the demolition of some of the buildings and the reconstruction of others. Keeping the architectural integrity of the 1920s knitting factory while building new, class-A office components in the interior required the utmost care and expertise.

The building now features a two-story entry lobby with grandstand style seating, an abundance of meeting space throughout the facility, central pantry and coffee stations where employees can gather during the day, open concept cubicle areas with tons of natural light, a daylight harvesting lighting system, and even a reception desk made of reclaimed wood from an original 1904 building on the property.UGI-Energy-Services

“We’re thrilled with our new facility and we’re grateful for the work Binswanger contributed to this amazing office space,” stated Juan Mones-Cazon, Project Manager, UGI Energy Services. “We’ve been long believers in this community and are honored to be in an area with such rich history. It took vision and know-how to make this office a reality and Binswanger was there to drive and support us every step of the way.”
